Heichal HaTorah Runs Own Dash for Dignity

This past week, Heichal talmidim took a break from their regular daily schedule to run a 5K to support Yad Leah, a tzedaka organization that provides clothing to needy families in Israel. In order to preserve the dignity of its beneficiaries, who come from all different backgrounds and different communities, Yad Leah offers the opportunity to purchase high-quality clothing for discounted rates. The special Dash for Dignity event—which raises money to purchase and ship American clothing to Israel—took place at Overpeck Park and included over 100 of Heichal’s students, administrators, teachers and rabbeim. Academic Dean and Principal Rabbi Maccabee Avishur, an avid marathon runner himself, led the 5K along with several other faculty members. Congratulations to Shlomo Zeilingold, 11th grader, for his first place win; Naftali Segelov, 12th grader, for placing second; and Jakey Abenaim, 10th grader, for placing third. It was a great afternoon with exercise, camaraderie and chesed all rolled into one!
