FAQs
Donating Clothing
We accept and distribute all contemporary clothing in excellent condition including children’s, women’s and men’s clothing.
Additionally, we accept shoes, outerwear, linens, towels and tablecloths. Because we give to a wide cross-section of the Israeli community, we are able to accept all types of clothing that are suitable for many different types of communities. We sort each piece to determine where that piece can best be used and appreciated based on climate and cultural norms.
We accept contemporary clothing which is in excellent condition, with no rips, holes or stains.
Yad Leah suggests a minimum donation of $36 to defray the cost of shipping and to ensure that your clothing reaches needy families as efficiently as possible. Please do what you can to sponsor the distribution of your clothing. However, in recognition that a monetary donation can be difficult for some, we do not require any monetary donation with your clothes.
Yes, shoe donations are greatly appreciated!
Yes, we also collect towels, linens, table cloths, and blankets. We do not collect toys, books, or household goods.
Everything! People are extremely grateful to the American community for sending clothes. However, we do hear more frequent requests for baby clothing, teenage girl clothing, and maternity clothing.
Yes, sure. Although there are many communities in Israel that experience moderate temperatures even in the winter, there are still many communities that get very cold. These communities love to receive coats and all outerwear including sweatshirts, sweaters and jackets.
Unfortunately, we are unable to ship toys or other household items other than textiles.

Volunteering Opportunities
We offer volunteering opportunities at our North Jersey warehouse where we host groups throughout the year. This includes families, bar/bat mitzvah groups, synagogue groups, sisterhoods, mother & daughter groups & groups of friends.
If you would like to form a group, please call 973-955-0861 or click here to fill out our online form.
Slots for national holidays and school breaks tend to book up quickly. If you want a specific time, reserve early. If you are flexible, two weeks in advance is plenty of time.
The center is open to every age! Young children (ages 5-12) with adult supervision are welcome to come with their families. Kids as young as 5 or 6 can participate with assistance from adults and older siblings. Adults, teens and children ages 12 and up will likely enjoy the experience the most. Since we are located in an industrial warehouse, we do not recommend that toddlers attend.
Ideal group size is 15-40 people.
Distribution
Yes, we feel very strongly that as an organization we have a responsibility to reach out and help these communities as much as we can. To that end we have sent clothing to Sderot, and continuously send clothing to Itamar, the site of the horrific Fogel massacre. In fact, just two days after the massacre, the mayor of Itamar sent us an email asking for more clothing. “We need support, please send our kids clothing and let them know you care”.
No, unfortunately, we are unable to send clothing to specific people. You can contact us for a list of our thrift-shop addresses and you can direct your family to go there.
