Q&A with Tehila
North Woodmere NY, HALB
Giving gift packages to bat mitzvah girls in Israel. I was not able to visit Israel
but I wanted to be able to share my simcha with girls there.
Getting to see the pictures of the girls who received my packages.
My birthday is around Chanukah so one year instead of birthday presents for
me, I asked my frien
ds to bring presents to donate to the local food pantry for
them to give to kids as Chanukah presents.
My parents because I see how much they give back to the community and
they help me come up with ways
I can give back too.
That no matter the distance or the circumstances there is always a way to help
others.
Leah Shevchuk, a talented 12-year-old girl from Northern NJ, worked tirelessly and painted beautiful art pieces to auction off at her Bat Mitzvah, raising over $500 for Yad Leah. While her initial connection to the organization was because of her name, Leah, as she continued to learn more, she fell in love with Yad Leah’s mission. Leah inspired the many guests who attended her Bat Mitzvah party, where she was able to combine her talent for art and her love for chesed, to help her brothers and sisters in Israel.
